From the Hotel (of love)

Digital Rebel XT.  f 9 at 1/400 second.  Edited.

I like this photo a lot.  It shows that a cheapish hotel in Busan has a pretty sweet view.  I also like it because the city looks totally fake, particularly when focused on the two white cars at the bottom.

Korea is like Cape Cod

Digital Rebel XT.  f 13 at 1/2000 second.  Edited.

Here is a lighthouse in Korea.  Well, I guess it could be anywhere in the world, but I swear I am in Korea.

So Many Options

Digital Rebel XT.  f 9 at 1/250 second.  Not edited.

Just off of the beach is this little slice of heaven.  Each of these booths contain a few aquariums of fish, soju, seats and a fire.  It is like a cheap aquarium where you get to eat the fish.  I imagine people have a hard time choosing their meal.  I didn't on the account that I hate seafood.

North Korean Sleeper Agent

Digital Rebel XT. f 8 at 1/640 second.  Edited, obviously.

This guy loves the beach.

Namhang Bridge, Busan

Digital Rebel XT. f 13 at 1/2000 second.  Edited.

This is the Namhang Bridge.  It took a bunch of years to build and was stalled for a bit courtesy of a lack of money.  It's pretty big.

Ambitious Guy

Digital Rebel XT. f 10 at 1/1000 second. Not edited.

Apparently the umbrella guy and his little friend weren't kidding.  Larry and I left the beach to get a room and some food and came back to find our bed invaded by the multitudes.  How many people drowned beneath a tube that day I can only imagine.

The End

Digital Rebel XT.  f 10 at 1/400 second.  Not Edited.

This was the end of having the beach to ourselves.  About two seconds after this shot the older guy yelled at us for being in the way.  Apparently he thought he was going to cover the whole beach with umbrellas and we were hampering hs business.

The End of the Calm

Digital Rebel XT.  f 10 at 1/4000 second.  Edited.

This kid brought the umbrellas.  The umbrellas brought the people.  The beach had nothing to do with it.  By the by, I have a totally valid excuse for my lack of daily posts: vacation.  I brought my computer to Seoul but I couldn't hook it up to the net and the PC in the room was pretty crap.

Getting Ready

Digital Rebel XT.  f 10 at 1/4000 second.  Not edited.

I think that this guy eventually yelled at us twice (once for being in the way of his umbrella setup and again for being in the water before 9am) but for now he looks prett OK.

The Land of the Morning Calm

Digital Rebel XT.  f 8 at 1/640 second. Not edited.

It was a rough night but this was our reward.  We were virtually alone on a beach that would be swamped in mere hours.

Motel Alternative

Digital Rebel XT.  f 10 at 1/500 second.  Not edited.

Despite the appearance and the fact that there is a bottle of Mongolian liquor in a bag off camera, we were not (completely out of our minds wasted) drunk.  We were trying to avoid spending money on two nights at a motel in Busan.  Mission accomplished, though we were yelled at for being in the way of men setting up umbrellas.

Larry in Busan

Digital Rebel XT.  f 4 at 1/2 second.  Edited.

Another absense, I know; but this time it was for a good cause.  I went to Busan in the southern part of the Korean peninsula and it was one hell of a time.  I will be devoting the next handful of days to photos from Busan.  The place was crawling with U.S. Navy sailors courtesy of the "war games" taking place off of North Korea.  A guy who came from the nuclear powered George Washington aircraft carrier offered to buy us drinks at 6am.  This is Larry when we finally arrived at 2am.
